Moreirense Futebol Clube has lost its coach, César Peixoto, who decided to leave the club on his own initiative. The news was announced by the club on Saturday. César Peixoto, 40, had achieved his first win at the service of Moreirense on Tuesday, in the reception to Santa Clara. The coach from Caldas das Taipas, in the municipality of Guimarães, replaced Ricardo Soares, current coach of Gil Vicente, and was making his debut in the top flight of Portuguese football. With the team in ninth place in the I Liga, with 13 points in 11 games, Moreirense Futebol Clube now has to find a new coach to lead the team. But the departure of César Peixoto was not the only surprise of the week, as the club is also preparing to face national champion FC Porto, on Sunday, at 21:00, at the Estádio do Dragão. Moreirense trained on Saturday under the guidance of assistant Leandro Mendes, who will hold a press conference to preview the next game from 12:30, at the Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, in Moreira de Cónegos. So the team now has to adapt to the new reality and find a new direction. César Peixoto leaves Moreirense Futebol Clube with a record of two defeats and as many draws, interspersed with two wins in the Taça de Portugal. The former Portuguese international played for FC Porto, Benfica, Sporting de Braga, Vitória de Guimarães or Gil Vicente, among other clubs, having won 10 domestic titles, including four championships, and four international titles.
