Moreirense Futebol Clube, one of the clubs in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, is undergoing a significant change in its shareholder structure. The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) confirmed that Moreirense's SAD, which was 75% owned by the founding club at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, now has a majority stake held by Black Knight Football Club, which owns 70% of the shares. This change was approved by the club's members in an extraordinary General Assembly held on May 31, 2025. The shareholder change is an important part of Moreirense Futebol Clube's strategy to strengthen its position in Portuguese football. With the new structure, 20% of the shares are held by a single shareholder, while the founding club retains 10%. This restructuring could directly impact the club's performance in the upcoming seasons. The FPF also reported similar changes in other clubs, but Moreirense's transition is one of the most notable, given the new influence of Black Knight Football Club, which also owns Bournemouth from the English Premier League.
