Black Knight Football Club, the American group that owns Moreirense Futebol Clube, bought 100% of Lorient, a Ligue 1 club. The French club's president, Loïc Féry, sold his share to the group led by Bill Foley, but remains as president. Black Knight Football Club invested over 500 million euros in the French club. Lorient, in ninth place in Ligue 1, has not lost since November 2 and in the last eight rounds has won six times and drawn twice. Black Knight Football Club also owns Bournemouth, where Tiago Pinto has a relevant role, and Auckland FC in New Zealand, as well as participations in clubs such as Kyoto Sanga in Japan and Orlando City in MLS. A move in the opposite direction took place at the end of 2025, when Black Knight sold 25% of what it controlled of Hibernian, Scottish football.
