The Black Knight Football Group, an investment fund that controls Moreirense Futebol Clube's SAD, has bought the entirety of Lorient's shares.
What happened?
The group, which also owns Bournemouth, where Tiago Pinto plays, and has stakes in Auckland FC, Orlando City, Kyoto Sanga, and the Scottish team Hibernians, had owned 33 percent of the French league club since January 2023.
Why is this important for Moreirense Futebol Clube?
Loic Féry, Lorient's president since 2009, will remain in his position and also become a shareholder of the Black Knight Football Group.
What comes next?
The deal's value was not disclosed, but the French club congratulated itself on the successful negotiations, highlighting that the fund's capital of around $550 million (635 million euros) will allow it to expand its sports horizons as the current 9th-placed team in Ligue 1.
