Moreirense Futebol Clube entered the first day of the 2026/27 season with five new signings officially presented and the absence of winger Joel Jorquera, who has yet to appear at Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas.
Who are the new signings?
Goalkeeper Aranha, on loan from Palmeiras, was the first announced. Then wingers Koby Mottoh and Michael DaCosta, both arriving from Bournemouth, signed contracts. Forward Rodrigo Soares, newly integrated into the U‑23 squad after a spell at Vizela, was also added. Finally, striker Alexandre Parsemain arrived from Lugano, bolstering the main attack.
Who is missing and why?
Joel Jorquera, who spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Real Murcia, did not show up for the first training session. The club has not yet disclosed whether the absence is due to injury, travel delay or an administrative decision. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad, made up of 19 players, was present and ready to start pre‑season.
How does the squad look after departures?
In addition to the arrivals, Moreirense recorded ten exits. Notable ones include right‑back Diogo Travassos, who returned to Sporting Braga, midfielder Vasco Sousa, who goes back to FC Porto, and forward Luís Hemir, who moves to Sunderland. Goalkeepers Caio Secco and Mika, as well as midfielders Miguel Rebelo (to Académica) and Alanzinho, also left the club.
What is planned for pre‑season?
The club will train in Ofir, Esposende municipality, between 20 and 25 July. Friendly matches include a U‑23 clash against AVS on 11 July, a duel with Santa Clara on 22 July and a meeting with Gil Vicente on 25 July. Later, at the start of August, the first team faces Amarante and Felgueiras, both from the II Liga.
